Description:
The Located at the Chambersburg Operations Center, the FHA Mortgage Underwriter will be responsible for underwriting secondary market and portfolio loans for the Mortgage Operations Department; Underwriting high risk government loans, conforming and non-conforming conventional loans; Assuring approved mortgages meet investor, insurer and/or portfolio guidelines; Analyzing mitigating and risk factors to protect the banks portfolio; Position is not responsible for exceptions made by others with proper lending authority.
Education:
A B.S. or B.A. degree in a related field of study preferred; specialized bank residential mortgage lending education and training.
Skills:
Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills; thorough knowledge of current consumer lending regulations; proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills; a working knowledge of bank operating policies and procedures which impact residential mortgages; a thorough knowledge of conventional, FHA, VA and USDA; a strong background in compliance guidelines such as HMDA, RESPA, TILA, MDIA and all other related compliance directives; thorough knowledge of Fannie Mae’s Desktop Underwriter software; strong residential mortgage loan decision/documentation application experience; visual and auditory skills; strong problem solving and analytical skills; valid driver's license.
Experience:
A minimum of five (5) years' experience in related lending positions required, and a minimum of three (3) years experience as a FHA Direct Endorsement Underwriter is required. FHA Direct Endorsement certification is required
